Sachi Satapathy, Director
Sachi Satapathy is a senior international development leader with nearly two decades of experience designing and scaling programmes across health, gender equality, education, informal labour, agriculture, child protection, and social development in LMICs. He has delivered 48 high-impact programmes across 29 countries spanning South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa, and fragile contexts. His career includes senior project roles with the World Federation of Haemophilia (Canada), The International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease, UNFPA, and the World Bank. Over the past six years as Director of AFDC Global, he has partnered with American Leprosy Mission (USA), Global Action to End Smoking (USA), GIZ (Germany), World Vision (Netherlands), Nomi Network (USA), Fairtrade International (Singapore), JQAN (Japan), the European Union, the International Catholic Migration Commission (ICMC, Geneva), UNICEF Middle East, and others.


Our Team


Shang-Ju Li, MD, MPH, is a physician–epidemiologist and global health leader with over 17 years of experience spanning clinical research, epidemiology, and large-scale health program implementation. He currently serves as a Project Director and Senior Staff Scientist at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, where he leads a multi-institutional NIH-funded study focused on health inequities, overseeing protocol design, data integrity, and cross-site execution. Dr. Li brings deep expertise in research methods, including regression modeling, prevalence estimation, and real-world data analysis. Prior to his current role, he held executive leadership positions at Americares, directing monitoring, evaluation, and research functions across a $100M+ global health portfolio in over 20 countries.
Chiara Jasna, Consultant


Chiara Jasna Vaccaro is an Italian architect and infrastructure design expert with over 25 years of experience delivering sustainable, climate-resilient, and inclusive infrastructure solutions across 40+ countries. Based in Nairobi, Kenya, she holds a Ph.D. in Technology, Architecture and Urban Areas of Developing Countries . Chiara has held senior roles with leading international organisations, including Danish Refugee Council (DRC) as Global WASH, Shelter & Infrastructure Sector Lead (2021–2025) and UNOPS HQ as Infrastructure Design Review Expert (2014–present), overseeing facility portfolios exceeding USD 100M. She has also worked with UNHCR, UNDP, UNICEF, FAO, World Bank, and USAID-OFDA, among others. Her expertise spans WASH programming, post-disaster reconstruction (Haiti, Indonesia, Somalia), green building design, and capacity building. She is the lead author of the globally adopted DRC/STC/IOM Construction Good Practice Standards (2021).

E. Torrella Raymond, Consultant
Enrique Torrella Raymond is a senior international development and humanitarian leader with over 30 years of experience spanning displacement, refugee response, conflict and post-conflict programming, and the Triple Nexus (humanitarian-development-peace). As Senior Vice-President at HIAS (Africa/Eurasia Region) and previously Regional Director for Latin America and the Caribbean, Enrique has overseen portfolios of up to USD 60 million, managing teams of 800 staff and delivering assistance to over 400,000 beneficiaries across 14 countries and four continents. His career includes senior roles with UNHCR, NRC, and OSCE, with field presence across Africa, Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Caribbean. He specialises in strategic planning, results-based monitoring, emergency operations, and localization, with a strong focus on refugee protection, forced migration, and building resilient multi-stakeholder partnerships with donors, governments, and civil society.


Sanjay Gurung, Consultant
Dr. Sanjay Gurung is a senior international development executive with 21+ years of experience leading complex, multi-country programs across Sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and the Middle East. As Vice President, Programs – Technical Resources & Quality at Mercy Corps, he provided executive oversight of a USD 450M+ portfolio spanning 40+ countries, supervising 80+ senior technical experts across governance, peacebuilding, climate resilience, food systems, and monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL). Previously, as Senior Director and Director of the Peace & Governance Technical Support Unit at Mercy Corps, he directed portfolios exceeding USD 100–150M, leading institutional reform and governance programming in DRC, Sudan, South Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, Jordan, Iraq, Nepal, and Myanmar. He has engaged directly with USAID, FCDO, the European Commission, World Bank, UNDP, and UNICEF on strategy, proposal design, and adaptive management in fragile and conflict-affected settings.


Dr Brian Staines, Consultant
Dr Brian Staines is an international expert in careers guidance, Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) systems, and workforce development with over 30 years of experience working across Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and the Pacific. He has collaborated with major international organisations including UNICEF, the European Union, the World Bank, USAID, and the British Council, delivering high-impact projects that strengthen education systems and improve school-to-work transitions. In addition, Dr Brian has significant experience in higher education, having spent over two decades at the University of Bristol, including as Head of Guidance.


Lena Bozic, Learning & Coordination Assistant
Lena Bozic is an International Relations graduate from Leiden University with experience in research coordination, project support, and knowledge management and a strong interest in humanitarian and development work. Her strong academic background is complimented by her experience in research, teaching, and project coordination. Lena will support Global-South Young Change Makers Workshop.
